Low alcohol beer has been around since Medieval times, often referred to as table beer or small beer. They were often served as a less risky alternative to water (which often was polluted by faeces & parasites) & were less expensive than the full-strength brews.
HOW IT'S GOING
So, moving closer to the present day & after what seems like an eternity of low-quality, low & no alcohol alternatives, it's a very refreshing change to see such a huge range of spirits from gin vermouths all being available in low or no alcohol form. Gone are the days where it was a punishment to be the designated driver! Producers worldwide are now being set up with their sole purpose being to specialise in this category, & innovation is rife. We expect to see big things from this category.
