Buy Wholesale Lager
Noun: a beer (such as a bock or pilsner) that is brewed at cool temperatures by slow fermentation with a slow-acting yeast (especially Saccharomyces pastorianus synonym S. carlsbergensis)
Despite its recent decline across the larger breweries of the world, you can now see high-profile UK craft brewers begin adding this historic brew to their roster to keep up with consumer demand for credible, well-made products. Although it's readily available, it's not an easy beer to brew because it takes a lot of time and energy to 'lager' a beer. The term 'lager is derived from the word 'lagern', which is German to store. Best served cold; Lager is lighter in colour and flavour than a traditional ale. The precursor to all modern golden Lager originates from the Czech Republic. In the 1800s, in the town of Pilsen, the residents came together to purchase their local brewery, an early cooperative, if you will. This location is where the term 'pilsner' originates.
Our wholesale lager range is enormous and covers Helles, pilsner, Kolsch and everything in between. As you would expect from an independent wholesaler, we carry all the best-selling brands. Different types of Lagers
AMBER LAGER
Amber lagers are often a copper-like colour, they're usually medium bodied and malt heavy. This unique colour is a result of using toasted malt barley when crafting this unique type of lager. This a great option for those who aren't ready to make the jump to craft beers yet. Amber lagers are stilling bursting with flavour due to their specific brewing process. An example of amber lager would be Sam Adams Boston Lager. Within the wider ctaegory of 'amber lagers', there are specific examples. Under the amber category are lagers like Vienna lager, Marzenbier and Rauchbier. Vienna lager has malt aromas and the toasted malt taste. Furthermore the name 'Vienna lager' comes from the Vienna malt used in the brewing process. Marzenbier origintes from Bavaria and is a full bodied lager. It is an amber lager however it can be found in a paler form. Finally, Rauchbier is an amber lager that uses smoked malt, which gives it the unique amber colouring (much like Vienna lager). Similarly to Marzenbier, it hails from Germany.
Pale Lager
The most popular type of lagers are pale. This includes light lagers, Munich helles, Pilsners and much more. Pilsners would be a word you're probably familiar with, they're incredibly common within pubs and bars. They're usually pale - golden in appearance, and have a medium strength to them. Pilsners are made using Pilsner malt. In 1842 the very first Pilsner was brewed by Pilsner Urquell Brewery, furthermore this was the first pale lager to be brewed. Therefore Pilsner is the original pale lager and has stood the test of time. Light lagers are the most commercially brewed lagers, they're brewed at a low temperature and they're lighter in terms of ABV and calories. Which we're sure is one of its best selling points!
Dark Lager
These lagers are self explantory, they are dark in colour. Lager yeast is used to brew them and they're commonly lower in ABV, which means they're extremely drinkable. Dark beers originate and are popular in Germany. The Germans call them a Schwarzbier, which translates to black beer. Munich is a dark beer hopspot because of the high calcium carbonate in the local water. Which lends itself to dark beers through the brewing process. Examples of dark beers include Munich Dunkel and Schwarzbier.
You can find all types of lagers in the vast amount that we sell.
